Oral Care For Children

Brushing
your teeth does not have to be difficult, or take a lot of time, to be done
well. Here are some ideas on how to brush your teeth well. Get
out your toothbrush and put a little toothpaste on it (about the size of a small
pea). Place the toothbrush inside your cheek and gently close your teeth
together. Put the brush tips on your gums over your back teeth. Without pressing
down hard, brush your teeth, going around in a circle. Start on your top gums
and come down your teeth to your bottom gums. As your toothbrush comes forward
in your mouth, bring your front teeth together and continue to brush in a
circle. You may need to pull your lips out of the way with your other hand to do
this. Keep brushing your teeth in a circle until you get to the back teeth on
the other side of your mouth. Then gently brush back and forth on the tops of
your top teeth, where you bite down. Start on one side of your mouth, come to
the front, and then finish on the other side of your mouth. Next, do the same
thing for the tops of your bottom teeth. Start on one side, come to the front,
and finish on the other side. Finally, do not forget to brush the tongue side of
all of your teeth. Start on one side of your mouth and finish on the other side.
Now do the same thing for your bottom teeth. Remember to brush all sides of all
of your teeth every day, at least one time a day. Brush the same way every time
so you never miss anywhere. By following these steps, you can help keep your
teeth and gums clean and healthy for a long time.
